Each their own

by Aaron Howard

Maybe too far we've come and grown
but then again, to each their own.
Maybe we spent too many years apart
since then I'm sure I've mended my heart.
Maybe your life isn't what I really wanted
and all those petty things you ever flaunted.
Maybe I'm not the one who was meant to be
and maybe we're just too dumb to see.
All the time and all the lies come and shown
and we sit back and cry about to each their own.
We whisk away the past in a jealous envy of life
and you get pissed that I'd never take you as a wife.
You get mad about me making up my mind after all these years
since it seems that you've come to confront all of my old fears.
Maybe one day I'll see the mistakes that I've been shown
and find out that it's not really to each their own.
