on a monday afternoon.

by Andrew S Adams

midafternoon, coupled with
that feeling you get after you've
been drinking too much mello yello.

that
lazy
tired
slightly
hyper without initiative
emotion.

the sun is shining through the window
reflective on the house next door.
quietly, the music around me is screaming-
but at least i've kept the volume down.

the wind outside is colliding with the leaves;
cowards. always retreating.

a single candle is burning on the desktop,
while a boy is rambling

on
and
on
about the little things around him:

decapitated dolls,
razorblades,
scattered notes and
phonenumbers he'll never call.

and he realized he's changing tenses and points of view.
i suppose thats life.
