great mother

by Cymbre Dolphay

She cries tiny hurricanes
into spectral hued bottles
to display upon a shelf
made of earthquakes
hung on a great wall
of cumulonimbus clouds
within a house of forest fires

the stars are the centers
of moonbeam chimes
comet and asteroid pendulums
orbit planetary dream catchers
galaxies evolve and dwindle
within miniscule kaleidoscopes

a flower perched in her hand
holds as much sway over her
as the turbulent black hole
each as precious and pathetic
as her own fingertips
