You say you’re not addicted but you cry when you’re out
and you say you got it under control when you happen to shout.
You shake when the drug has run its course
and scream until your voice has gone hoarse.
You wonder why I act the way I do
I’m just over all the things you do.
You smoke in the morning and drink at night
just because you say it helps you feel all right.
You speak of addictions going far back in time
and you know that you’re always committing a crime.
You speak of freedom and show your finger in salute
and over quitting we’ve had many, ah, dispute.
You say your not a junkie and can quit anytime
but it’s the only thing that makes you sublime.
You speak of paradise behind closed eyes
while you wait for that overdose surprise.
