Won't last

by Aaron Howard

Where’d you go? Oh, you’re right here
But you’re not here and your point is so unclear.
You come around but forget who I was
And let our friendship turn in to dust.
You always talked about how it was going to be
but then one day we shattered that fantasy.
I never knew after all these passing years
that you’d turn out to confirm all of my worst fears.
You’ve always held a grudge; I’ve known this true
But I never held a grudge against anyone, even you.
Now you act like we have no past
and speak of points that just won’t last.
I knew all about your quick temper too well
And in it’s crosshairs, I thought I’d never have to dwell.
Anger has come into cloud my judgment too
Leaving me unable to think of what to do.
I thought I knew what to do now
I think, therefore I am to do nothing, anyhow.
