Weeklong vacation

by Aaron Howard

Shut down the plant, the job's been done
and when it comes to work left, there is none..

Go home early, spend some quality time with your kids..
and put some quality resting time, under your lids..
Hell, take the rest of the week for a personal vacation..
for it's worldwide and it's sweeping the nation..

We need a time to just get away...
Just some time to waste the day..
Not a worry to the bills in the box..
Not a care to the keys and their locks..

A week off for the working class humanity
too bad this is just a starry eyed fantasy..

Every day, just more of the same..
Running around in that cat and mouse game..
Some call it work, others call it a hell..
but in this money driven burden, we've all come to dwell.

Author's Note: I wrote this for my grandfather who worked a 80 hour work week to support his family and never had the time to spend it with the people that mattered most.
