pipe bender romance

by Cymbre Dolphay

Why are you here
in my presence
looking at me like that
in a way that speaks
of attraction and longing

do you truly adore me
or would I make
a stunning hood ornament
(I know you well enough,
your car will come first)

for an instant I wonder
if I could tempt you
make you love me more
than this piece of metal
perched on rubber tires

but that’s rather absurd
if the situation was reversed…
yeah, I’d take the car
and forget all about you

too bad that you’re image
has settled upon my mind
seared itself into my heart
along with gentle starlit kisses
that weren’t supposed to mean
this much…

Author's Note: Yeah. The title only makes sense if you happen to be 'him'. Otherwise, I just seem witty:) Written for reasons that I don't understand, but I know the emotions a little too well.

Obsessive car infatuation. I don't see the connection about cars. They simply get you where your going. Given the choice between a car and a lady... I'd be walking her home. Great verse that gets ya thinking.
