shells at my feet

by Ginette T Belle

sitting under a coconut tree
sunflower seeds in my pocket
a white bunny tiptoes
over hot white sand
flailing arms
incoherent speech
that the world is coming to an end
and I should really get some sunblock on
because when the fire starts to burn
no doubt there will be an explosion

disappears
wouldn't you know
down a rabbit hole
it seems unintenially
indicated by the screaming bloody murder
all the way down

and I sat and listened to the silence
to interrupted peace
to the world coming to an end

Great attitude in this one. I can't decide whether your jaded, or just accepting fate. Great words that inspire thought.

Ok Alice. Rabbits are trouble. Throw a coconut at it. I like the playful tone of this one. Well said. --bf

Seems a good poem for our troubled times Ginette. Left me with a not so easy peaceful feeling. Good work!
