They say you’re supposed to write about what you know
but who’s to say I want that dark side of me to show?
Should I just let you inside into my dreams and fears?
Teach you all the lessons I’ve learned over the years?
Tell you of my lovers and my undying faith?
Express what I need to make me feel safe?

I don’t have that trust for the public anymore
I don’t have the strength to just open that door..
I can’t endure that kind of intimate scrutiny
when all you do anyways, is judge me…

No insight here about my past
or the loves that didn’t last.
No lies to be scribbled down by candlelight.
No hint about what I dreamed of last night.

Keep what I know to myself for special occasions
to save myself from the public’s private invasions..
Each glimpse deeper into my dreams and aspirations
with each one of my intimate open book creations.
