For Lack of Better Words

by S.J. Tyler

When all is said
And everything’s forgotten
We can’t see what we’ve lost
We don’t know how we used to be
The memories have been tossed

The Golden Age of space and time
Have taken away from the simple rhyme

A period of technology,
Men, women, not girls and boys
say “to hell with our old elementary toys”

Attics or closets are now the stage
for trinkets that used to keep mankind engaged,

Our power has all but imploded
Past wonderment has now eroded

So hung up with looks not function
All human faults work in conjunction

The way to correct our marvelous blunder
Would be to rewind to man’s first “thunder”
The very first time man has tried to play God
Not staying confined to his fleshy bod

We were created for this such purpose
Fighting the mother who tried to burp us

Looking to our past won’t do a thing
Let’s just hope we don’t live to see
What catastrophe our future will surely bring
