Asleep At Last by S.J. TylerRoll over
On my side
Face to face with heat
Glowing from pores
Radiating
Smells like myself
Only inches away
Thumping and pumping
A beat from within
Slow and steady
Echoing in mattress springs
Fluttering two by two
Wispy slashes
Rise, fall
Rise, fall
Dormant life, trapped in a cage of human matter
Covered with fibers and feathers
Radiating that heat
This tiresome tango
Wrestled across our few inches
Still beauty
Known without sight
Known by how far the mattress is sagging
Exhalation lagging
Steady
Steady
Back and forth
Me then you
Again
Again
Again
Again
Drifted past fluffy, soft
Beyond color, light
Smells like myself
Heat beating
All through the night
