I need affection from a boy

by Cymbre Dolphay

I need affection from a boy
not a spectacular one
our egos would fight a lot
maybe one who likes cult films
and long conversations with the moon

his religion can be anything
so long as he doesn’t kill me over my atheism
or my sympathy for Lucifer
and he can tell me about Catholic laws
(plus the location of the Pope)

hopefully I can hunt him down
in order to jump him in a parking lot
and I care not when
but I do care about his middle name
which cannot be Eugene

this boy will not be normal
for such people frighten me
perhaps a closet pyromaniac
who can set me on fire
with his x-ray vision

I want him to know obscure things
such as engines and Jewish folklore
while still being able to recite
lines from Caddy Shack
during a round of mini-golf

he will kiss like the sunset
making me feel like silver rain
underneath he will be cold
in a way that I long for
not hot like so many others
