raindrop kill by Andrew S Adamsflying from a million feet in the sky,
the rain assaults all that scrape it's home.
flying at a velocity too high to know-
but somewhere between me and nothingness.
when you drop pennies off the empire state
they say it will leave holes in a sidewalk,
and manage to strike dead an (un)fortunate passerby.
if so, why doesnt this apply to rain?
i am falling along side, and in moments
i will be a drop on the pavement.
but, that is not my aim, not my hope.
i just wonder about the physics of it all,
nothing more, nothing less-
so i decided to find out first hand.
tonight, i am falling. a velocity greater than rain-
yet, i'm hoping i land just so;
so i can stand, impacted, but not crushed;
i will wait for the rain to cause me a far more beautiful demise.
all real pain comes with no tears; there is too much of a pull
to actually describe emotion, it just feels like nothing we know.
so, somewhere it rains.
i will cry when someone else cries.
i will fade when i cry-
when their force comes and finally
obeys the laws of physics. 07/20/2003 Posted on 07/21/2003 Copyright © 2025 Andrew S Adams
