fallen warrior, who rests in my heart by Cymbre DolphayswordÂ’s tip
caress the skin
that shields my heart
pierce my soul
reclaim this life
with your immortal kiss
the oaths that were sworn
have crumbled to ash
and now ride the fell winds
that which was wrought
with flesh and sword
had come to naught
let the stars above
see their child returned
to their loving arms
tell the ancient mother
her champion has fallen
and wishes for her presence
that which was ordained
has come to pass
fate has played itself out
the elixir flows steady
and another sacred one
shall be no more

| Posted by Jason Wardell on 07/12/03 at 06:11 AM I really enjoyed this, but I've been having trouble finding words lately, so this is the best I can do. However, I do want you to know how truly wonderful this poem is :) |
| Posted by Fredrich Mohre on 04/01/09 at 11:31 PM I was a 'warrior" for 24 years of military svc. I never gave thought of the pain and apprehension my loved ones felt as I ventured forth. Now I have seen it as I watch this war thru a flat screen tv with 24 hour coverage, and a daily memorium in the paper for those that gave it thier all. Spartan mothers must have been hard, so we think..but their souls must have bled when thier sons came back on thier shields...I've seen so much of it today. My only selfish happiness is that my son missed it all, never have to smell gunpowder and put his footprints in the sand, never to aim and kill another and revision it many times later in his life, even unto old and gray......a great healtfelt work, carry on the voice...Fred Moore |
