Kiss Me Softly

by Ken Harnisch

Kiss me softly, for I have not been kissed

In eons.

I have forgotten the taste of lips on mine

Or the feel of an embrace for something

Other than hello.

I may be hungry in the aftermath.

If you are not prepared for me to cling

You had better not come closer.

But if you do, my darling,

I will feed the fire and the flame

Showing I remember how to strike the match

And toss kindling on a burning heart

I like the vulnerability in your poem, its honesty and faith in the writer and in love's persistence.

Who could resist a beautiful invitation like that!?

Whoa! Somebody call FDNY, I hear the crackle of a bon-fire coming from Ken's bedroom, hehehe!! Nice job, Bro. I love a good love poem and this one rises to the top in heated fashion. Peace...
