peace in the dead

by Andrew S Adams

as a latch from a screen door slowly clicks
i enter the world that is
my playground; such a place it
is to wage war for peace.
and a terrible scream of bursting wind;
and a calming call of a crow, wandering aimlessly at night
Lost in the land of owls and far murkier things
the life that shines from the dark howl
eminates from a laundered source.

And in this night, i am fighting. fighting to es-
cape and fighting to live as the conscious should;
dead. yet i have not met this fate,
and thus i have not met this peace.
i have however, met the calming embrace
of a echoed night.

hello great eve;
how long i have waited to greet you.
