ten minutes in the snow

by Michele Schottelkorb

"close your eyes, little wife
peer upon a blanket of snow
tilt your lips up to mine
and embrace this husband of your choosing"

dressed in black and blood red velvet
boots war-torn below her knees
red hair glistening with snowflakes
a spiked collar encircles her nape

the pines so tall and majestic
a magickal river runs below
peace and serenity in this small valley
piercing blue eyes stare down at the witch

snow white fingers fold into cherokee hands
his cargo jeans rustling in the quiet storm
she touches his cheek so softly
as rings of white-gold become one

this tiny moment frozen in time
where husband and wife hear only their hearts beat
a mystickal journey can take ten minutes
yes, for this, it is worth it
