Snowshoe

by Aaron Howard

God, how long have I been on this mountain?
It’s the end of the season and everyone has left
and no one’s around anymore.. just me and the moon…
Silent night went and past, Loud and rowdy came after
So many nights spend up here filled with laughter
Now it’s just a hollow memory.. Faces come and fade away
People pack up, go home, but I’m still here…
Storms come and rain on my snow but I feel it fade away
The sun comes out for once, and now I’m not as pale
and now all I have left, is to tell the tale…

Bittersweet. A sense of loneliness prevails I think. "And now it's just a hollow memory" catches the spirit of the poem for me.
