I love life

by Aaron Howard

I love the way life changes in the blink of an eye…
I love how you could be here one second and then die…
I love how the acid rears it’s ugly head in the back of your throat
I love when you walk into an empty house with just a floor bound note…
How you stutter in shock over the whole situation.
How quickly you figure out your own designation.
How quickly a smile fades from someone’s face as they say goodbye…
How slowly a tear drips down from a loved one’s eye…
The sweet irony of love, in all of its glorious presence and accustomed loss
The love of a lifetime, the price doesn’t matter since there never is a cost.

I love how I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat just to have the same result…
I once feared love, as a bastard child seeking me out in a line up…

How it ripped my wings off and made me grounded for months…
How it felt when you got those butterflies… or are those blue balls?
You know, it’s easy to be cynical about life today… but it takes all the life out of it.
Live it, love it… it’s all you got, they say…
That’s bullshit, Love it… then live it… or lose it without knowing what you had…
