Your own daydream

by Aaron Howard

The outstanding silence is deafening compared to all the things
I once knew about my friends and myself…
I stare into a mirror of falsities and ambiguities
and know who is them and who is me,
but it all seems like such a far off fantasy…
one dream remembered another dream forgotten..
one apple ripe, the other rotten…
I once thought…
now I seem to forget…
Living this lifelong of regret…
Speak softly oh tongue of mine,
since I don’t have the time to cry or pine…
Signals lost on the highway of love,
when push seems to come to shove…
Things aren’t always what they seem
and you wake up in your own daydream.
