what are we fighting for? by Andrew S Adamsfreedom of speech is a funny thing-
the freedom we cherish most
is the one that dampens america's ring.
we put these soldiers
out there in the fight,
and we are oblivious as to what may be wrong,
and what may be right.
whatever we have,
it's all just a slanted view,
but if you look slightly deeper,
this shouldnt mean shit to either me or you-
because any time we rise to fight
this war with our words,
we are told we abuse the right
that they're fighting this war for.
so i must wonder,
if i cant say what i feel
about what may
or may not be real,
then why must we fight this fight?
---
liberation to all nations
is what we say we seek,
but i believe there are truths
no high power will ever speak.
and when this mess is all done and gone,
how long will it take
for this war to be known as wrong?
you blame saddam
for using human shields
but you drop the bomb
with the power you weild-
and you, with your finger on the trigger,
you dont pull it for yourself,
but someone so much bigger-
at least his head would make you think so...
what are you fighting for-
do you even know anymore? 04/04/2003 Author's Note: originally written w/o line breaks
