all would-be poets and storytellers
trying to pin down a generation
with words- defining all the lives
in a two-dimensional, black-and-white
landscape.
Defining me- by angst.
Defining me- by depression.
Defining me- by A.D.D.
Defining me- by apathy.
All these hopes and dreams
all these days of wasting
all these teen-aged suburban drone
clones and lookalikes.
Broken homes and deadbeats.
All alone on the streets.
all these youth, prone to use drugs
and believe these tragedies as distant.
yet personified, they are the tragedy-
according to society.

the generations before are
prescribing our destinies
with little room for
whatever good to be the truth.

we are led and told what we will be
by those who are unwilling to see
the future.
