Philanderer of Life

by Ken Harnisch

It is unfair to punish me

For sins IÂ’ve long washed from my body

And only now, as IÂ’ve been told

Still matter to my soul.

In my excess I was some unrequited

Philanderer of life

And love, and precious time

I regret all that, but knowing time

Is not some money in the bank

Can do little now but hope

I have learned all lessons from the past

This doesnÂ’t mean I will become

Some latter-day Johnny Appleseed

Walking endless miles on shoeless feet

Tossing wisdom pellets from my burlap bag.

For you to learn from me.

I bought my wisdom dearly, I remind you

Sometimes at the cost of love I cherished so

And IÂ’ll be damned if I surrender it for free.

Enjoyable walk together down the road of life, Ken.

I bought my wisdom dearly, I remind you Sometimes at the cost of love I cherished so And I’ll be damned if I surrender it for free. You have a way of making the reader smile, cry, and think... The above lines... really sum it up. And I think, are my favorite.

"Johnny Appleseed", "shoeless feet","wisdom pellets"... fantastic

Ah, inspite of feisty author's protestations, he gives the wisdom of his love freely in these fields for those who are willing to take the time to harvest it.
