Broken toe shuffle
   Through drifting snow.
      Shouldn’t have kicked the couch,
   Solid oak bone breaker.

Solidifying tears
   Journey over pours,
      Climb the hills of dried blood,
   Glass shrapnel sores.

Dishtowel glove
   Soaks up red stains,
      Deep ravine in finger peninsula,
   Clutching hurt hand.

Headlight encounter,
   Tossed into snowy ditch,
      Ribs jolted out of place
   Crush left lung.

Frozen stars
   Illuminate silent form,
      Frost bit, sitting to recover from
   Worst winter walk
