Suddenly by Gary HoffmannSuddenly,
greens and blues more!
A sparrow's shadow
swiftly dances across my smile,
and a hawk
drifts silently through the wind.
The moon sits atop the city,
red with rust
it will rise no higher,
its gears broken.
Whistling, I open a door
and beauty smiles at me
shyly, before walking inside.
I never see her again.
A girl sits practicing her lines
for a play in sign language.
The Universe hides
behind her hands. 08/24/2002 Posted on 08/24/2002 Copyright © 2025 Gary Hoffmann
