Twilight

by Jacki M Butler

The fiery glow of an August sun
Slowly gives in to the raging sea
As its embers begin to dip
Ever so slowly into the deep blue abyss
Gently at first
Quickening to melt away
The rays of deep purple and orange
Fade into pale pink, then darkness
One by one the sparkling diamonds take over the sky
As the moon eases over the water
A world awayfrom the fiery sun
It cools us as ice cools a flame
In the twilight you see lights begin to flicker
Lighthouse towers start to turn
As the light fades
Life remains steady, never wavering
Just changing to adapt to the next moment
Sunset to sunrise
To live life one day at a tmie
The most precious time in one's life.
