Won't always be a clerk

by Aaron Howard

Writing up all these notions..
Filling up these empty white oceans..

Talk about what you feel
and keep it down to the real.

Dream with the masses
and look at them through funny glasses.

Stick out your tongue in rebellion
and act like the little hellion.

Share with the folks at home
so you won’t feel so all alone..

Ask for time from strangers
and disregard all the hidden dangers..

Bask in the adoration of the ill kept...
When you cried, while you slept.

When we used to have heart to hearts
and it wasn’t all about the different parts..

Back when things used to be that easy
and we didn’t think it was all sleazy.

Act like the class clown you are
and drink with the others down at the bar..

Lead the cattle in the herd home from work
and dream that you won’t always be a clerk.
