Zero to Hero

by Aaron Howard

My parents say I was the worst mistake they ever made
and when it came to love they never knew how, nor gave...
Maybe I made a mistake to pick them as the bearers of my resign
and maybe one day we will know about the love we were to never find...
Maybe we'll add it all up and see the real score...
Maybe then, we'll choose to try and ask for more.
Perhaps its just something we all have to let go
and somehow let all the pain and resentment no longer show.
To lift ourselves out of this deep pit of depression
and stop this long trail of inward digression.
Maybe we'll change the story and end up a hero
instead of hearing them sit there and call me a zero.
