Sneaky Sunlight

by Aaron Howard

Sunlight creeps in through my blinds..
landing it's warmth on the lines it finds..

Spreading out in the haze like a shaft of purity
with it's blind sense of false security.

Lying to us to tell us the night is gone..
Telling us to come out and see the new dawn..

Telling us it's safe out in the world again..
Telling us no one's committing a sin..

Cover us in shafts of glistening light
and trick us into feeling all right..
Make sure the light gets you in the eye
so you won't be able to see that little white lie.
