The Undying Spring by Martini KoyThe waters of the spring have stopped flowing
Wild grass as thick as little forests have grown
Right on the mouth of the once living spring.
Did the water source dry up first
And gave the the bush time to flourish?
Or did the greens tied the neck of the spring
Corking up the outflow of nature's pitcher.
And the living ones who gulped its waters
Soon died one after the other
Their guts ran dry as dry as River Dry.
The spring never died as I thought it did
It made another channel of flowing water
Pushing its way on the side of a tall cliff
Nourishing the once only rock sided edge.
The cliff's edge is now full of thick grass
After being given life by the living spring
I don't see any water flowing... anymore.
Has the spring finally died
Is it dying in it's deathbed
Will it ever be six feet under ...? 11/19/2001 Posted on 11/19/2001 Copyright © 2025 Martini Koy
