I told you once by Gary HoffmannI told you once that I like this weather
I love it when it's grey and cloudy and
cold and dark and wet
I prefer the sky when the sun isn't shining
and the stars are too shy
to come out from behind their curtain
yes, I like the silent, frozen snowfall
of a December night
when you haven't seen the sunset
in three weeks
not because you've been too busy
but because the horizon has disappeared
behind a wall of mist and dust
to return, maybe, in the spring
but you
not caring, I suppose
or assuming it was simply because
the constant dusk of day
and the impenetrable night,
devoid of warmth and light,
were merely reflections of my soul
never asked why
oh, well... 11/03/2001 Posted on 11/03/2001 Copyright © 2025 Gary Hoffmann

| Posted by Amanda J Cobb on 01/05/04 at 03:40 AM Ah, wonderful. I remember reading this from a long time ago and am glad to have stumbled upon it again. Wonderful imagery and touching emotion evoked by this piece. Love it. |
| Posted by Susan Q Tomas on 08/08/04 at 01:35 AM I like that weather too. And sometimes I enjoy a dark, dreary mood as much as a happy mood. Nice piece.
