TWAS THE NIGHT AFTER NEW YEARS by Charles E Minshall
Twas the night after New Years
When all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a souse.
The adults were nestled
All snug in their beds,
While visions of beverages
Danced in their heads.
Then muttered repeatedly
Again and again,
"No more vodka, no bourbon,
No brandy or gin."
And from out of the darkness
As they turned out the light,
"Happy New Year to all
And to all a good night."
