I am a zombie,
the restless dead,
cursed to wander the earth
in a dreamless waking sleep
for all of eternity.

I am a shark,
forced by nature
to keep swimming, never sleeping,
never allowed to stop
lest I drown,
sink beneath the waves
of the shoreless ocean surrounding me,
forever forgotten.

I am a night star,
shining dimly, feebly,
expending relentlessly
the little energy I have left to expend,
burning out until I am dead,
a cold, lifeless shell.

I am a college student,
and I need sleep.
