Unexpected

by Jacki M Butler

We were thrown together
The two without dates
We went expecting to have fun
The go camping at the end
We expected nothing

We barely knew one another
I was across the fire
Everyone started to go to sleep
I need to move
I was surrounded by rocks and logs
The only place to go was next to you

I lay there, start to doze off
Then I feel a hand on my arm
I shivered in the spring air
You tried to keep me warm

You ran your hand across my cheek
Brushed my hair from my face
And kiss my cheek and forehead
All the while I pretend to be asleep

Then you kiss me
I give in and let you know I am awake
I return your kiss with my own
I lay in your arms for hours
We eventually drift off to sleep

My friends are amazed As are we both I am so happy and hope you are too Sometimes the best things in life Come from things so unexpected.
