The Hurting Game

by Martini Koy

Tonight I whisper to myself
It'’s time to stop loving the one I love.
If you ask me why
It’'s because love is a hurting game.

I am laying down my cards
The king and queen of hearts ---
The stakes are high
And the game has to end.
You may wonder why
It'’s because love is a hurting game.

If I may draw the face of love
It would be one of sadness and of loss.
Others may say it'’s wrong
And you may ask me why
It'’s because love is a hurting game.

You painted my life with gay colors
And made it quite worthwhile
But now you have to go
And leave me with shades of gray.

Do not choose to stay
And still tint my world with colors.
I can'’t love you no more
Because love is a hurting game.

Farewell sweetest love of my life
My heart bleeds as I take you away from it.
It is where I kept you ---
Deep in my beating heart.

And now I bid you goodbye
Because love is a hurting game.
My eyes are filled with tears
Flowing like a gushing river
As I see you fade out of sight
Lost forever in the far horizon.

I have never thought of love to hurt so much
But in time I have learned
That love is nothing more
Than a hurting game.
