Fried Wax

by Martini Koy

A flickering flame
From a scented candle.
Lights up the darkness
As it perfumes the air.
My mom had to light it
Coz we cooked fried fish.

The flame has eaten up
The candle that's aromatic.
I had to blow the fire out
It's such a glutton for wax.

The liquified wax
Has solidified again
After the heat has died.
But the smell of the fish remains
Oh I don't mind
My tummy is full
And that's all that really counts!
