Autumn Puff by Martini KoyStanding by the yard smoking
One windy autumn afternoon.
Nothing much on my mind
But plenty of nicotine in my lungs.
I see seven tall cypress trees
Though not high enough to touch the sky
Swaying just a little bit
To the music of the wind.
Cars passing by at forty miles an hour
Some may go fifty-five or sixty the most
But who cares, I'm smoking
And taking all my time.
It was a cold afternoon
I had my sweater on
My feet were close to shivering
I only had slippers on.
I look towards the sky
Twas so blue and peaceful
The clouds were white and feathery
And so was my last puff of smoke.
