I live life one day at a time
Find gladness in the smiles of people
And look for ways to help others.

If you ask me if I am happy
I could not answer for sure
Not today, not tomorrow.

Perhaps in the cold bed
Where I will breathe my last air
I could say whether I am or I am not...
