ralph nader, part deux? and other political musings.

on ralph nader running for prez:
let him run if he wants. i like him, but i'm sure as hell not gonna vote for him. 2000 was just too shitty, and i think that most lefties are in agreement with that. i dont like kerry much, i dont know much about edwards- but they've both got it going for them that neither of them are W. so, the democratic candidate will get my vote. sorry nader, maybe next time.

on gay marriage:
i applaud that the judges in california are standing up for civil rights, but, the fact remains that they're still acting in direct opposition to california law. I am in full favor of gay marriage and gay rights; but as judges, their duty is to uphold the law- not to change it without going through the process first.
hooray for massachutsetts; that's awesome that they've legalized it. i cant believe that W. is supporting the idea of a constitutional ammendment to ban gay marriage. ugh.

everyone shouold go check out sharona gilbert's journal entry on her stance on gay marriage. it is very thoughtful.

well, i must be going. hope i didnt piss too many people off.
peace:a

I don't comment on journal entries very much... but these are things that have been on my mind lately so here I am. I love Nader. I wasn't old enough to vote in the last election, but I convinced my mother, who usually votes republican, to vote for Nader. :) on the gay marriage issue, I'm SO for it. and when it comes to CA judges, well, we were just talking in my government class that judicial review is the most common way to change things in our government. sure, I think there should be a law allowing for gay marriage, but I think there's nothing wrong with judges who agree to it first. that's how most good changes begin (i.e. Roe V. Wade). and now I have written a journal entry within a journal entry. :) sorry.
