musings on irony
11/04/2003 11:49 p.m.
a thought i had last night, while reading over some comments i had gotten on my poem 'shifty eye in the alleyway.'...
i find it highly ironic that one can put so much heart and meaning and passion into a poem, and it barely gets a ho-hum in some cases...
but on the other hand, one can slap a bounty of uncommon words together with no real meaning, and it gets praised as 'brilliant'. i wonder if people just think that they are below understanding it- hence they praise it, whereas the reality is actually they are above understanding it. in another phrasing,

half of what we can not comprehend is prophetic and awe inspiring.
the other half of what we cant comprehend is gibberish and laughable.

and i wonder if anyone can readily discern the difference. maybe i'm just being overly critical of myself, iunno. but when people call something brilliant that i wrote which cant even understand myself,
maybe i'm just below comprehending it.

this entry is not intended to take stabs at peoples reading or writing styles whatsoever. it's just my view on some of what i would call slightly ironic. i'll bid you adieu.

peace;a
