I'm amazed and down right disgusted by some people.
I would say that I had a better than "average" day... I mean nothing spectacular happened, but I was upbeat after work, looking forward to getting some food to share at the church supper and Bible supper tonight, contemplating the refugees that are already in my city and the evacuees that are headed here tonight.
My school is collecting "toiletries" to take to one of the shelters, and I knew my church would be planning something as well, I was looking forward to learning about it....
and then ....
and then... I went to Walmart. I just needed to run in and get a cooked chicken and a side dish. I found a parking space about half-way up the middle aisle, without even searching. I'm walking towards the store holding my 7 yr. old son's hand, talking about school, and what we'll get to take to church. I get to the end of the aisle and I'm cutting the corner of the very first parking space to get into the striped section, and someone starts blasting their horn.
I stopped, and turned around to look, only natural right? The woman driving the car starts pointing at me and gesturing, etc. she gets out of the car, and I looked at her and very milding stated "that wasn't necessary" and she goes ballistic. She started yelling and screaming obsenities at me, in front of my son and everyone else in the parking lot. I again said "it wasn't necessary to honk, in fact it was rude, you scared my son" and she used her profanity to tell me that my son ought to be scared and thankful that she honked and didn't hit him... My son was holding my hand, walking next to me, like a normal person (not the hyper active one he usually portrays)...
Now, there have been plenty of times I would have turned around and cursed her right back and then some... but I started walking away, as she continued to scream at me and people are looking. When I was about 20-30 feet away, as she was still screaming at me, I turned and very loudly told her "Well God Bless you for just honking your horn at people".
I was REALLY tempted to leave a note on her car "'That which you sow you shall reap' someday someone will show you and your familly the same treatment that you show to others". I didn't, but I really did think about it!
And I'm thinking..you know was it really that important to have the first parking spot? Granted she had a handicap placard, but don't most people these days. I mean she was AT LEAST 150 lbs overweight, maybe if she walked a little farther she'd lose some of that weight and wouldn't NEED the placard. And what was with the Seven Dwarfs stuffed dolls in her seats? 2 in the passenger seat and 4 or 5 in the back? She was CERTAINLY no Snow White?!
With everything that is going on right now, all of the troubles and concerns just in the Gulf Coast right now... was it so important to have that parking place, and under those circumstances... would it have killed her to wait 30 seconds for us to clear the corner of the parking spot?
Our nation today... it's not a UNITED States, it's a ME ONLY Nation... at least for way too many people. It's sad, it's really deplorable and disgusting the way that some people think only of themselves and this moment. I am currently Disillusioned

Yipee Skippy!
08/23/2005 04:41 p.m.
My pc crashed and burned... big bummer, inhales profusely, etc. I went to Best Buy last night to look at PC's, they wanted $800 for the newest version of the PC brand I had (emachines) with an Athlon processor, but they didn't want to give me financining.
SO, I went to Conn's (I think they're only in TX). I bought my refrigerator from them when I bought my house, so I figured why not see how much credit I have with them still.
I got a brand new HP Pavillion, with a Pentium 4 processor, a CDRW (I think it's DVDRW too) LightScribe..... OH wow I'm gushing now, but this is the FIRST time I've EVER had a brand new, modern, up to date PC, EVER! I can't believe how SLOW my old PC was (even before it decided to croak).
See, good things do happen to not so bad people every once in a while! I am currently Excited

Hearing...

Aren't our senses amazing? I'm sitting in my classroom on a break, listening to Vivaldi play, as the thunder crashes and the rain splashes outside my room in the courtyard... all the many noises and nuances that our ears can detect... and I wish...
I wish that instead of just listening I would become inspired and find my muse once more. I am currently Content

What a pain in the....
08/08/2005 12:47 p.m.
Ass.. literally.
I started back to work last week Thursday. I spent the whole day sitting on a hard bench listening to presentations. This is something I would not advise to anyone who has back or sciatic problems.
Friday morning I was already experiencing swelling and spasms. By the end of the day Friday I was having a lot of difficulty. Saturday was even worse. A few hours in the pool helped, at least until I got out of the pool. Being in the water taking all of the pressure and weight off helped immensely, but I could barely get out of the pool afterwards. It seemed as if my leg wasn't going to support me.
I had my fiance help me with some stretches, etc. and it gave me some relief, but not nearly enough. I started back on pain/anti-inflammatory meds and muscle relaxers and I got a massage yesterday, mostly on the right side and working on my glutes and leg. That has helped out immensely. I can still feel the twinges, spasms, etc. but it's at a tolerable level for now.
It really sucks to be falling apart like this and I'm not even 38! I am currently Tired

If you are ever so unfortunate...
08/02/2005 02:54 a.m.
as to get a ticket and need to take defensive driving to dismiss it, may I offer you a few suggestions based on my most recent agonizing experience....
1) Take defensive driving online or find a comedy place to do it... if you HAVE to sit in the same room for 6+ hours it's nice to have a few laughs, BUT if you do it online, you can sit around in your PJ's who's gonna know if you brushed your teeth or put on deodorant?
2) Order your Driving Record immediately! I ordered mine more than 3 weeks ago, it was supposed to be sent out in 3-5 days, but it's never come, I can't find my email receipt, and I have to have everything into the court by Aug. 8, SO, I get the pleasure of driving to the state capital tomorrow (almost a 4 hour drive one way) to try to get a copy while I wait and then try to make it back home before 2 so I can get some things taken care of at my school before I go back to work on Thursday.
3)If you're like me when you have the time to do it you don't have the money, or vice versa... find the money, and make the time, so you aren't pulling your hair out when it's T-7 days and counting... remember the online course.... some of them will give you 3 days or more to log in and out to complete the course, or if you have to wait until the holy terrors you gave birth to are in bed... well you get the idea.
The first ticket I've had in more than 5 years... Lord I hope it's at least another 15 before I have to do this again! I am currently Frustrated

Litigation
05/17/2005 05:42 p.m.
I received a letter from the lawyer in California. This is the first I've heard from him in about 8 months.
There have been a few delays in the wrongful death suit, and there are some issues that are going to need to be addressed by experts.
Maybe there will be some kind of a settlement before my oldest son graduates from HS. I am currently Indifferent

How many carburators are there?
05/13/2005 06:39 p.m.
Here I've been feeling like I'm loosing my mind
Someone grabbed hold of the frayed end and started pulling
As my world started unraveling, revealing far too much
Someone cut the end loose.
So now I'm sitting here with a smile on my face,
Thankful that it's Friday the 13th and only two weeks left of school, and wondering....
Just how many carburetors would fit in that cabinet, how many makes and models?

Mother's Day 2005
05/09/2005 01:54 a.m.
Friday night, after my youngest son's baseball game, we had the car packed and drove straight to the farm, where my fiance was spending the weekend with his relatives.
Saturday morning my dogs were let out to potty, and decided to go exploring up the hill, again. Usually they come back within an hour, two at most... this time only one came home in two hours, the other one was missing for 6 hours!
Mark and I traipsed all across the area, up the hill, down to his uncle's stock tank. Mark shot a snake in the tank, then we headed across a field, climbed through the barbed wire fence, further down the hill... we ended up crossing two other properties, including onto a Beefmaster ranch, looking for the stupid dog (or not so stupid since she wasn't there and came home on her own wagging her tail later) before we finally gave up and headed back to his Uncle's place.
After that we headed up to the top of his Uncle's place to take care of the cemetery. Even with the 4 of us (Mark, "Blitz", my oldest son and myself, my youngest son wasn't much help) it took about 4 hours to mow it all, trim, edge, etc. "Blitz" waited until the Blue Bonnets and Indian Paintbrush had seeded out so we just help broadcast the seeds a little more. I have pictures on film that needs to be developed of the cemetery during the full bloom last month. ANYWAY, it looks much better, and we did it just in time, because the storms started blowing in early this morning!
Last night for dinner Blitz and Mark grilled chicken, steaks and the corn on the cob I had prepared for the grill, and I made some beans and cheesy rice.
Mark got up first this morning and made breakfast, while the boys were helping Blitz, and I took a bath. Mark usually makes breakfast on the farm. Blitz and our kids like the full country breakfast (bacon, eggs, pancakes, juice, etc.)
I did 4 loads of laundry, then around 3, Mark and I drove around looking at the properties in the area... we're hoping to find something for sale at a reasonable enough price we can afford it; at least 20 acres. It was still raining, but we were in his 3/4 ton dualie, much better than cruising the muddy roads in my Saturn.
I ended up driving the 84 miles back to Houston in the storm, but we made it home after only 2 1/2 hours.
Lots of hugs and kisses and "Happy Mother's Day" from my youngest, a peaceful weekend away from home and the hassles associated with it, and only 3 weeks left until summer vacation.... *Big Deep Contented Sigh* I am currently Refreshed

WEIRD Dreams!
05/03/2005 02:20 a.m.
Man have they been bizarre lately... and I don't even remember most of them once I wake up. I guess I should keep a journal by the bed, but I forget them faster than I can write them down, all I remember is waking up and thinking OMG how freaking weird!
It's not like I've been eating any weird or bizarre/spicy foods before going to bed either, in fact last night I had milk right before bed. I remember one of the dreams had horses in it... HUGE Morgan's or something, with a rider on them as tall as a 1 story building, and they were riding through the middle (square) of a small town... and they went into a stable for a break, and there were smaller horses, and ponies, and alpacas and lamas... What the heck!?
I guess I just need a good long vacation!
