O Happy Death

by Crystal Raine

You've murdered my muse.

Taken the poor thing into your
strong, loving hands and squeezed
the life from it, slowly, deliberately.

All of the tears, sadness and hurt
that used to fuel my endless string
of heartbroken prose has deserted me.
And the fault rests with you.

Thats right, I blame you.

The real and imagined suffering
of my youth that inspired so many
lengthy odes to Willow Trees and
Broken Glass, the monster in the mirror
and the ones from my past,
have all but vanished in your wake.

Leaving me to write of puppies and
rainbows, and heart shaped toast!?!?

Considering this crime that
you undoubtably committed,
(No confession is needed, but
you may as well admit it.)
One thought remains in this
love addled head..

I hope that little sucker
Just stays dead..

A few things. First off, typo police! "and the ones from _the my_ past," needs to be fixed. Secondly, the author's not reminded me of the opening joke to (500) Days of Summer. See it if you haven't. Thirdmost, I didn't really like the bit about "pain-filled angst." It seemed out of place in what is otherwise a tremendously well-crafted poem. I'm done now. :)

I, on the other hand, Think think that this is a beautifully written piece, and that The author's note is much more than the opening quip of a B rated film. Well done!

When you find the right one many old wounds are healed, I know I have more than my share.
