I am whole while you are asleep

by Donald R Beckman

eyes shut so tight
but still she sees
movement in sleep
so vividly she dreams

fingers most delicate
yet strong and firm
but tender and soft
from the keys she's learned

a mind so sharp
but fragile and refined
clever and cute
and a body so fine

she has everything
not just looks or smarts
but most importantly
she has my heart

Author's Note: I hope someday you will understand how much I've loved you.

this poem displays hearts within hearts in its unfolding.

.....displays indeed. the "loss" of a loved one is hard to bear. when do they know.. is it when its too late?
