Suddenly it becomes possible by Natalie JonesShe leans against a countertop holding water in a glass.
She drinks, swallows, sets it down and picks it up again.
She has done all that she must do today.
She watches the grass.
She remembers that this morning she did not look at the
man she loves before leaving for work.
She knows this day was not a day without flaws,
but it is a day that is done.
Her eyes, once wild and scattered in her young life
now remain calm, balanced.
The water in the glass is still, unmoving.
What is important is that she did her part, that she is standing.
Suddenly it becomes possible to bear the weight,
to drive the car, to love him. 01/22/2006 Posted on 01/22/2006 Copyright © 2010 Natalie Jones
